10:00 am - Start at the north end of the canyon near exit 14 on I-90
- Take your time up the canyon and pull off for pictures and hikes
- View Bridal Veil Falls
11:00 am - Arrive into Savoy and have coffee or lunch at the historic Latchstring Restaurant
- Hike the beautiful interpretive nature trail that loops into the forest along
Spearfish Creek. It's a easy hike with the giant Spearfish Falls near the end.
- Visit the beautiful Spearfish Canyon Lodge. Rent mtn. bikes or snowmobiles
- Follow county road 222 behind the lodge up to Roughlock Falls. Hike the trail
- Look for the sign posting the location of a movie scene in Dances with Wolves
- Great Place for pictures and maybe even a little fishing.
1:00 pm - Continue through Spearfish Canyon, follow the Green route to Lead, SD
- Ride the City Trolley during the summer for an historic tour of the town
- Visit the Homestake Gold Mine Visitors Center and the Open Cut Mine. Consider
booking a tour on the surface mining tour
- Visit the Black Hills Mining Museum in historic downtown Lead
2:00 pm - Take Hwy 14a into Deadwood, SD
- Visit the Adams Museum & House
- Visit Mount Moriah Cemetary, final resting place of Deadwoods famous outlaws
- Take the Deadwood walking tour downtown
- Visit Tatanka Story of the Bison, jut outside of town on Hwy 85
- Consider taking a historical tour with Original Deadwood Tours
- Visit the Saloon #10 for re-enactments of the Murder of Wild Bill Hickock
- Watch out for the street shootouts on Main Street
- Attempt to avoid losing money at the casinos that line Main St., good luck!
5:00 pm - Complete the Green Route by returning to Spearfish, SD for some great dinner in historic downtown Spearfish. Consider visiting the Passion Play or maybe the Opera House.
